Two confirmed college lacrosse updates from October: Andy Shilling’s new Towson role and the 2027 women’s captains at Johns Hopkins.
Towson promotes Andy Shilling
Towson announced on October 16 that Andy Shilling had been promoted to co-offensive coordinator for its men’s lacrosse team. Head coach Shawn Nadelen said Shilling will share the role with Matt Musci. Shilling remains an assistant coach and enters his 11th season with Towson in 2027. The school says his work has included the goalkeepers, offense and extra-man unit. Towson’s announcement provides the staff details.
Johns Hopkins elects two women’s captains
Johns Hopkins announced on October 29 that midfielder Samantha DiCarlo and defender Kendal Crawford had been elected captains for the 2027 women’s lacrosse season. The school lists DiCarlo as a senior and Crawford as a junior. Hopkins says its 2026 team won a school-record 17 games and reached the NCAA Division I semifinals for the first time. DiCarlo played in all 22 games last season, while Crawford started every game on defense. Johns Hopkins’ announcement gives their roles and season context.
These are the details confirmed in the programs’ October announcements. Their effects on the 2027 season remain to be seen.
